The 'Widewing Butterfly Ray'
Seeing one of these magnificient rays would have to be one of the highlights of my holiday! I was lucky, truely lucky.
When I came back to the hotel on the day of seeing it I quickly looked it up in my identification book on 'Sharks and Rays'. It should have every species if it has sharks like The Goblin and Pacific Sleeper Shark! There were only 2 butterfly rays listed in the book and the one that looked most like it was distributed in the Western Atlantic. I was starting to wonder whether I had found something new, because not even the diving instructors who had been diving 11 years in Turkey had ever seen them....
This is it!!
